With Aberystwyth CycleFest week in full flow many riders are using the TT’s and the Tuesday and Thursday chaingang events to fine tune their top end speed and bike skills for the dream of getting a successful break away in the criterium races.
In the men’s event, local Pro Rider Gruff Lewis dominated and took the win in a time of 21min 30seec. This was only 12 seconds off the men’s course record set in 2015. In second place, Ieuan Andy Davies continues to show good form with a time of 22min34sec, setting a new age course record in the process. Third place went to Steffan Roberts in a time of 23min19sec.
In the women’s event, Anita Saycell took the podium and dipping under 26min in a time of 25min 48sec, taking the course record. In second place, Emma Palfrey showed good form in a time of 27min 27sec. Third place went to Nia Peris in a time of 30min 22sec.
In the popular road bike category, Ciaran Rowett took top spot in a time of 24min08sec.
